As a graduate student, I conducted experiments to explore how neurotoxins influence neurons and contribute to the development of neurodegenerative disorders. My Ph.D. research focused on identifying the pathological mechanisms of acrylamide-induced mitochondrial stress, neuroinflammation, and cognitive impairment in the progression of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Additionally, I investigated the therapeutic potential of histone acetyltransferase inhibitors on various secretases involved in the amyloid pathway. Currently, in the Thinakaran lab, I am studying the role of BIN1 overexpression in AD pathogenesis using transgenic mice models.
